Our Services

We provide services to both academic researchers and companies. These include consultation, feasibility assessments on data availability, data extraction and analysis services, and data anonymisation. We also provide a secure processing environment (Atolli) compliant with the Act on the Secondary Use of Health and Social Data. Patient data are primarily disclosed in pseudonymised form.

Amendments to the Act entered into force on 1st of May 2026. Applicants can now choose whether to submit applications concerning multiple organisations centrally to the permit authority or separately to each organisation. As a result of the amendments, Varha can also compile and combine datasets. Controllers (such as Varha) may now process data requests for aggregated statistical data as well. Auria Health Data Services does not collect or disclose data until all required permits are in place. Currently, datasets are mainly based on specialised healthcare data within the wellbeing services county, but coverage is continuously expanding. Auria Health Data Services uses advanced data warehousing methods and applies artificial intelligence where it can be done securely and in a controlled manner. We participate in EU and Nordic research initiatives and collaborate with industry partners. We also provide expertise in data anonymisation, including the production and use of synthetic data. Services for academic researchers

Register-based research always requires a permit from the Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland or Findata (Finnish Social and Health Data Permit Authority). Before submitting a data extraction request, we offer a feasibility study to determine whether the required data are available. In addition to data extraction, we guide researchers in applying the Act on the Secondary Use of Health and Social Data and advise on the responsible use of data. We also offer analysis services throughout different stages of research. We have strong expertise in the content of data, as we extract the data ourselves and use methods to verify entries and ensure quality. Auria Health Data Services provides comprehensive analytics services for companies to support research and development projects.
