Confirmation of receipt – refusal

Auria Biobank has received notification of the cancellation of your biobank consent and/or notification of exercising your right to object; a copy of the notification is attached. Information about it has been entered in Auria Biobank’s consent register, the controller of which is the wellbeing services county of Southwest Finland (Varha).

Cancellation means that your samples and the related data will no longer be collected in the biobank after the cancellation has been received. Exercising the right to object means that samples and data that are already in the biobank will not be processed, used or assigned for new biobank research. After receiving the refusal notification, the biobank can no longer disclose any data about you that was possibly obtained from the biobank sample in biobank research.

Samples and data collected up until the time of the cancellation will be retained if the hospital that took the samples considers them necessary to treat your illness(es). In this case, control over your samples and data will transfer to the hospital in question. Research results, data contained in the research results and material already formulated from the samples and data that were published before receiving the refusal notification can, however, be used within the limits laid down in the Biobank Act.

More information about the registers maintained by Auria Biobank, and about the biobank’s data protection practices and the rights of registered individuals is available at www.auria.fi/biopankki/en/ . For questions related to data protection, please contact the biobank or Varha’s Data Protection Officer (tietosuoja@varha.fi).

Best regards,
